scion xd vs tc?

im not getting any other type of car because a friend of ours is the gm of a toyota dealership so im pretty much stuck with toyota. i have driven and seen all of the scions and like both the tc and xd but cant decide which is better. i play lacrosse so cargo space is kinda important, but i also need to cary people at the same time for long distances along with the stuff. i dont need a really fast car just fast enough to beat a 96 turcel and a 08 vw beetle(not that hard to do) price is good for both but for the tc i cant go over stock price for now.
