My girlfriend has a Scion xD (by Toyota) and recently it stopped running....

...Can someone help? The engine would turn over but wouldn't fire. We had it towed to Toyota where they told us there was too much alcohol in the gas tank. They dropped the tank, drained it, and checked the engine components for damage. There were none. Today, I tried to start her car (it still has a gallon of gasoline in it), but it did the same thing as before. My first thought is that there is, once again, too much alcohol in the gas tank. Both times, this has happened when the tank is low. What could be causing this alcohol build up and what can I do to solve this problem?

Sounds more like a fuel pump problem. When you let the tank get that low on gas, the gas lines could get air in them, and vapor locked. So I would check that out before making any more pricey repairs. Good Luck!

its not good to run it low and leave it low you get water in the tank im trying to figure out why you didnt fill the dang tank up when you left the dealership you think you have a gallon your prob running out of gas

It says in the xD manual that you should always have at least a quarter tank of gas in your Scion, so I guess don't drain the tank to empty and have what the users up above described!
