To those that own XD's or XA's and live in areas of colder winters I am asking for tips on how you keep the front end from sliding all over the road. I have had this car for 4 months and already wrecked it. I have been driving in harsh weather for 30 years and never had a wreck like this. When my car was in the body shop I saw another XD and so out of curiosity I called other body shops and found that 2 more Scions had been in for bad weather accidents in my town. I am not a mechanic so I do not know if this is a flaw in Scions or other small hatchbacks but I do know that I should get some tips for THIS make and model specifically.
I have asked Toyota and local tire dealers and I get conflicting info. I am wondering what kind of info I might get from someone who isn't expecting to make a sale. Thank You

Lisa: I don't think the problem is so much with your car as with your tires. Get a really good set of all-season tires (4 of them), or better yet, snow tires, and you'll be fine. Go to www.tirerack.com, and look up your car and the orginal equip tires you have now. See what they say about how good/bad your current tires are for snow. Probably they are bad in snow. Then look for tires that are highly rated in snow, and if you can afford it, get a special set of 4 snow tires just for winter.

Good Luck.
