can the pioneer stereo on the scion xd use the shuffle function on an ipod?

i recently bought a 2010 scion xd and the stereo has an integrated ipod usb connection. It works and sounds great, but i was wondering if there was a way to use the shuffle function of the ipod? I messed around with it but was unable to find a way to get to the shuffle function. any insight will be greatly appreciated.
