Scion xD: iPod and iPhone capability question?

I am way over due for a new mp3 player and Im kind of thinking of getting a new phone as well. I figure why not just get an iPhone?


I have a 2008 Scion xD and it has the audio controls on the steering wheel in addition to the normal stereo controls.. BUT

the audio controls on the STEERING WHEEL only work with iPods (not other mp3s)..

I was wondering if its possible to use the iPhone in my car as an mp3 player as well?

PS: Im not talking about the normal stereo controls, im talking about the ones on the steering wheel..its iPod capable only..with my mp3 now i have to use the mp3 to change songs, not my car controls
